MY INSPIRATION FOR COOLJAZZFLORIDA.COM

Stu GrantAs you know my name is Stu Grant jazz radio voice here in S Florida including 20 years with the now defunct love 94 hosting the very popular Sunday jazz brunch radio show. I am the son of jazz legend radio personality, record producer, concert promoter Alan Grant who sadly passed away in October of 2012 at the age of 93 yrs old. My fathers credits in the jazz industry are most impressive and I have continued to follow in his footsteps trying to help keep the jazz music alive. Back in the mid 60's my father hosted Friday night live radio broadcasts over WABC-FM featuring the likes of Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane, Horace Silver among other greats who have gone on to be legendary. His shows were broadcast to the armed forces network throughout the world. He to was part of the Greatest Generation fighting oversea's in WW II, was a pall bearer for General Patton . He won a Grammy award for one of his broadcasts with Wes Montgomery, was on the Grammy Committee as well My father had the distinction of starting one of the most exciting and important big bands of the era 'The Thad Jones Mel Lewis Big band in 1966 at the famed Village Vanguard on Monday night.

Here we are some 47 years later and the Vanguard big band continues on doing the music of that internationally known big band. That's every Monday night in Manhattan. Hosting the famous Monday night jazz from the Four Queens hotel followed several years later for around 17 years with the top jazz performers in the country live from Las Vegas....

I love this jazz community in South Florida ever since I moved here in 1970 and I have carried on the tradition of my late father. Most recently I created a unique sounding jazz internet radio station in Fort Lauderdale that I think merits the attention of jazz lovers worldwide . The station is www.cooljazzflorida.com 24/7 and I have listeners worldwide with a growing audience daily.
South Florida is a haven for well known jazz musicians, wonderful institutions from the High School level up (Dillard H.S., great jazz organizations including the Gold-Coast jazz society of which I am a proud board member. I think there's a nice human interest story here. Like father like son or quoting my late dad 'The apple didn't fall to far from the tree'.

We are so limited in this area with good jazz radio programming and that is my specialty. I decided to go full steam ahead with this project and could use your support to help get the word out to jazz fans locally and internationally.

The sound quality is top shelf.
